Tiger Woods is in a deep slump, but is he finished?

August 6th, 2010 · 6 Comments

Tiger Woods is in a slump.
There is not getting around it any longer. It’s time to pull out the dreaded “s” word. It’s time for the real reporters in the interviews to ask him about his slump and “how do you plan to break out of it.”
All season long Tiger has told us he’s in [...]

Crashing the Party at Golf Digest

August 6th, 2010 · No Comments

Golf Digest just recently held a roundtable of writers to discuss the hot topics of the day. After reading it I wanted to stand up and applaud some of their opinions, while on others, throwing rotten tomatoes seemed like a more appropriate response. And so, with all due respect to those in attendance, here is [...]

Nicklaus’ seconds in the Canadian Open

July 22nd, 2010 · No Comments

In honor of the 101st edition of the Canadian Open, I present the record of Jack Nicklaus in this 107 year old championship (6 years it was not held since 1904), the best player to have never won it!
Seven times over a span of 21 years from 1965-1985 Nicklaus finished second in this event, but [...]

1972 vs. 2010 at Pebble Beach

June 23rd, 2010 · No Comments

I get a kick out the pampered pros of today whining about the difficulties of Pebble Beach. Take Tiger Woods for example. He said on Thursday that the greens were “awful.” Then, rather than softening his stance a bit, claimed that others felt the same way.
Then we have Ryan Moore, who everyone once thought had [...]

Woods not as golf smart as his teachers’ think

June 4th, 2010 · No Comments

Tiger Woods’ instructors keep insisting that no one knows more about the swing than he does, that he is by far the most knowledgeable player in the game. If so, now is his time to prove it.
Right now Woods’ swing is a big mess. When he gets stuck on the downswing, which is happening more [...]

Nicklaus’ should be golf’s official Best Ever

May 26th, 2010 · 3 Comments

NOTE: This is the second of 2 parts on ESPN’s election.
Last week ESPN held an important election. The question it asked was this: Who will be remembered as the greatest golfer of all time? The two candidates were Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods. The operative word in the question is WILL. ESPN asked voters [...]

In addition, he held sizable leads in many of the biggest vote getting states including California (51%), Florida (55%), Georgia (57%), Ohio (55%), Pennsylvania (51%), and Illinois (51%). [...]

NOTE: This is the first of two parts.
In one of the hardest fought elections on record, Jack Nicklaus, the incumbent, has retained his position as Golf’s Greatest of All Time. While returns are still dribbling in, this writer is calling the election at 12pm ET on May 22 for Nicklaus with perhaps 98% of [...]

Haney and Huggan at odds with the truth

May 17th, 2010 · 4 Comments

John Huggan is at it again, siding with Hank Haney while spouting off a litany of questionable opinions,  all for the purpose of defending his good friend and co-author of a couple of instructional books.
And, as with a previous defense of Haney, he waited until we are well into his piece (582 of its 1,370 [...]
