The Real Golfers vs. The Wand Wavers at the WGC

I love the long putter because it gives me villains to root against.

In the days before the wand weavers had begun their takeover of pro golf, it was tough to find reasons to root against certain players. Let’s face it – golfers don’t give you many reasons to dislike them.

But now, thanks to the long putter, I hate certain players. Yes, that’s right, I hate them because they have sold their golfing souls just to make a few putts.

So, going into Sunday’s final round of the WGC, my team is set:
The Real Golfers: Ryo Ishikawa (-11), Jason Day (-11), Rickie Fowler (-9).
Their opponents are the Wand Wavers: Adam Scott (-12), Martin Laird (-10), and Keegan Bradley (-10).

Throughout the afternoon I will be rooting my team on while hoping that the WWs choke their guts out. This is especially goes for Adam Scott, who is the poster boy for those infernal broomsticks, and whose caddy, Steve Williams, is positively giddy at securing this gig for this turncoat who once upon a time was completely against the long wand.

I would love to see Ishikawa or Fowler break through with their first PGA Tour win, but on Golf Sunday, the new team sport, a win by any of the RGs will do!!!

I don’t enjoy seeing guys revive their games via the long putter. As much as I believe in second chances, having a long putter is cheating.

What about someone who has lost their swing? There’s nothing to help you with that but if you lose your putting stroke you can always resort to the long putter. Don’t like it!

I won’t be rooting against Scott today though because I have money on him and Day!
