Golf, which has been suffering through a lackluster season, has been blessed with the matchup of the year tomorrow.
Tiger Woods, 34, the reigning king, against Anthony Kim, 24, wannabe superstar. Eighteen holes for the AT&T National, starting out dead even at ten under.
Who will feel the pressure? Tiger the intimidator who has causes grown golfer to weep, and who carries an ocean liner full of expectations with him every time he tees it up? Will he feel some strange psychic energy from his decade younger opponent that will throw his biorhythms (or putts) out of line?
Or will it be Kim, who is hailed as the next big thing, and who has earned a golden opportunity to prove that golfers don’t have to choke on Red Shirt Sunday’s in the final pairing. Can he rise to the occasion and become the Tom Watson of his generation? Remember, Watson was 10 years younger that Jack Nicklaus when he began to be a huge thorn in golf’s greatest player’s side. If it is to be, it’s got to start somewhere, sometime, and there is no time like now!
Indeed, more than a regular PGA Tour event is being contested at Congressional, which has hosted many a major. As the Tiger Era, Part II continues in its first season, we’re going to see if Kim can stand up to Tiger, out gun him down the stretch, and show the golfing world that Tiger may finally face some opposition as he continues to climb Mount Nicklaus.
The fireworks come today, but the real show for golfers will start tomorrow afternoon when the present duels with the future.

Tiger’s 33, not 34.
Should be a good one. If AK keeps up the putting clinic, he could definitely win.
